Deep plum, close to aubergine, with a fine scatter of copper and rose running through it like embers under ash. From across the room the Tapison Home Torino 063.0078.1214 reads as one rich, quiet colour. Come closer and it starts to move.

That movement is in the yarn. Copper flecks drift across the dark ground, gathering in some places and thinning out in others, while fine lines in the weave give the surface a faintly brushed look. The low pile is dense and soft underfoot, with a gentle sheen that changes as you walk around it.

The Tapison Home Torino 063.0078.1214 brings warmth to a room without asking for attention. Lay it under a linen sofa in stone or cream, beside walnut or smoked oak, or in a bedroom where you want the floor to feel calm and enclosed. Brass, terracotta and dusty pink all pick up the copper in the pile.

Machine woven in Belgium from polyester, this Torino holds its colour, recovers well under furniture and is easy to live with. Vacuum it regularly, dab spills straight away with a damp cloth rather than rubbing, and turn the rug now and then so it wears evenly.

Plum is a colour best seen in daylight. If you are nearby, come and look at it in our rug shop and showroom in Willebroek, in the Antwerp region, easily accessible from Antwerp, Brussels, Mechelen and Sint-Niklaas. Online orders are delivered free across Europe, with 30 days to return.
