Massimo Copenhagen makes rugs for homes that should feel finished without shouting. Pure Wool: Earth Natural, Rya and Karma Wool

Earth Natural is handwoven from undyed New Zealand wool, so ivory, beige and the greys are simply the shades of the fleece, on a short, dense pile that is also available round at Ø 300 cm. Rya goes the other way, with the long, generous pile of the Scandinavian rya tradition, in cream, soft beige or an almost black charcoal. Karma Wool is handloomed with a faded, vintage look in deep tones such as navy, burgundy and cognac brown. Three ways to bring the warmth of wool into a living room or bedroom.

A Soft Glow: Karma and Earth Bamboo

Karma is pure bamboo silk with a washed look and a remarkably smooth touch, in light grey, nougat brown, olive green and denim blue. Earth Bamboo blends New Zealand wool with bamboo silk, so the wool gives body and the bamboo a sheen that moves with the light, in ten colours from desert sand to mustard yellow and ink blue. Choose these when you want a plain rug that still catches the eye, in a bedroom or a quiet sitting room.

Flat and Natural: Escape Kelim, Belize and Sumace

For a dining room or a hallway, these lie flat and work hard. Escape Kelim is a handwoven kelim in undyed wool, finished with a contrasting band at both ends and also available as a runner. Belize is a woven sisal in natural or taupe, as a rectangle, runner or round rug, and Sumace brings a chunky, handknotted texture in hemp and jute with fringed ends.

Design Pieces: Atoll, Structures and Cloud 9

Atoll crosses a calm wool field with a few softly waving lines. Structures draws meandering lines like a city plan, lit up by bamboo silk, while Structures 2.0 cuts the same lines tone on tone into pure wool. Cloud 9 lets tufted clouds rise from a flat weave, in four moods from light blue to pastel lilac. Rugs that give a room its character without ever shouting.

Sizes, Runners and Round Rugs

Most designs come in several sizes, from compact sizes for a bedside or reading corner up to 300 x 400 cm for a large living room. For a long hallway there are runners in Escape Kelim and Belize, and Belize, Earth Natural and Karma are also available as a round rug. In doubt between two sizes? Go for the larger one: a rug that reaches under the front legs of your sofa and chairs makes the whole room feel calmer.
