Earth Bamboo Soft Grey is a light grey wool and bamboo silk rug that leans towards greige, the in between shade that never feels cold. Beige warms the grey from within, and the softly mottled pile has a pearly sheen that changes with the hour. Underfoot it is smooth, with the quiet depth that good wool brings.
Think of it as a backdrop. It lets art, books and a favourite chair take the stage, and it settles easily into almost any palette: white oak, stone, black frames, natural linen, a touch of brass. In a family living room with a large sofa the 300 x 400 cm size covers generously, while 140 x 200 cm fits a study or a bedside.
Its makers in India weave it by hand using equal parts bamboo silk and New Zealand wool (50% each). The wool gives softness and body, the bamboo silk light. It suits underfloor heating. Size and shade vary slightly from rug to rug, as they should with handwork. Keep it dry, blot stains as soon as they happen, vacuum without the brush, and for a proper clean rely on a professional.
