Earth Bamboo Camel is a camel wool and bamboo silk rug in a golden brown that feels instantly familiar, like old saddle leather in soft focus. At first glance the short pile looks plain, yet the tones drift gently from honey to toffee, and wherever the bamboo silk catches the light the surface takes on a faint gleam. Underfoot it is dense and supple.

Put it in a living room where wood already sets the mood: a walnut sideboard, an oak floor, an armchair in cognac leather. Camel bridges all of those warm tones and pulls them together. Chalky linen and a touch of brass keep the picture light. In 250 x 300 cm it anchors a generous seating area, with room to spare around the sofa.

Weavers in India make Earth Bamboo by hand, from bamboo silk and New Zealand wool, 50% of each: the wool gives body, the bamboo silk the lustre. It is suitable for underfloor heating. Every piece shows small variations in size and shade, which simply belong to handwork. Bamboo silk prefers to stay dry, so blot any spill straight away with a dry cloth, use the vacuum cleaner without its brush and hand any deeper clean to a professional.
