Heather on a hillside at the end of summer. That is the mood of the Tapison Home Torino 063.0934.7274: plum, mauve and dusty pink, crossed by a pale band of olive green and lit here and there by burnt orange. Near black patches in the corners hold it all together.

Purple can be a difficult colour in an interior. Here it works because it is never flat. The tones are woven speck by speck, so the surface shimmers between wine, rose and moss, and lines carved into the low pile give each colour field a soft, raised edge.

Let this rug set the tone. It looks at home with dark wood, velvet in aubergine or forest green, aged brass and warm, low lighting, and it turns a plain grey or beige sofa into something far more personal. In a bedroom it gives a rich, cocooning feel.

Practical details matter too. The Torino is machine woven in Belgium from polyester, has a dense short pile, keeps its colour and can be used on underfloor heating. Vacuum regularly, blot spills at once with a damp cloth instead of rubbing, and turn the rug occasionally so it wears evenly.

Deep colours like these change with every hour of the day, so do come and look. You are welcome at our rug shop and showroom in Willebroek, in the Antwerp region, easily accessible from Antwerp, Brussels, Mechelen and Sint-Niklaas. Online orders ship free across Europe, with 30 day returns.
