Somewhere between a storm sky and a slab of weathered stone. The Tapison Home Torino 063.0934.3293 moves from cool grey to sand and warm taupe, with patches of anthracite and small bursts of off-white that look like light breaking through cloud.

Run a hand over it and you find the detail the photo only hints at. Fine lines are carved into the pile along the edges of the colour fields, so the pattern has real relief, like contour lines on a map. The pile itself is short and dense, soft underfoot and level enough for a dining table and chairs.

Because it holds both cool and warm tones, this grey rug is easy to place. It ties a grey sofa to an oak floor, sits well on concrete or dark tiles, and takes black steel, walnut and natural linen without fuss. In a living room with a lot of plain surfaces it adds depth without adding colour.

Machine woven in Belgium from polyester and finished with a neat taupe grey edge. It is suitable for underfloor heating, keeps its colour and is easy to look after: vacuum regularly, blot spills straight away with a damp cloth instead of rubbing, and turn the rug now and then so it wears evenly.

Greys shift with the light, so it is worth seeing this one in person. Visit our rug shop and showroom in Willebroek, in the Antwerp region, easily accessible from Antwerp, Brussels, Mechelen and Sint-Niklaas. Online orders are delivered free across Europe, with 30 day returns.
