Brink & Campman was founded in 1897 in Lichtenvoorde, in the Dutch province of Gelderland, and has operated a design studio from the same location for over a century. Every collection, regardless of where it is produced, is designed by the in-house team in Lichtenvoorde. New collections are presented each autumn, developed from yarn and technical possibility rather than from seasonal trend. Onlinetapijten.be is the official Brink & Campman flagship store for Belgium and the Benelux, carrying the full collection online and in our showroom in Willebroek. The company also operates its own factory and weave mill in Lichtenvoorde, where Axminster weaving is carried out on looms the brand has mastered across generations. Axminster allows complex pattern work across the full width of a rug, with colour accuracy and structural density that tufted methods cannot replicate at the same level.

The Hand-Tufted Collections

The hand-tufted collections, produced with long-standing partners in India, form the largest and most expressive part of the Brink & Campman range. Hand-tufting allows the design team to work with a level of colour and compositional freedom that machine production or flatweave techniques cannot achieve. Decor approaches each rug as a composition: abstract forms, considered colour transitions, a painterly quality in the pile surface. Pop Art is more direct: bold curves and strong colour contrasts that make an immediate visual statement. The Element series takes its visual references from the history of abstract sculpture and interprets them in 100% pure New Zealand wool. Rocks is a high-pile shaggy construction in pure wool with a deep, organic texture. The Estella quality combines wool with viscose in specific pattern areas to add highlights and a surface sheen that cut pile alone cannot produce.

The Handwoven and Flatweave Collections

The handwoven flatweave collections represent a separate production approach. Marble and Cobble use thick, rolled wool yarn woven into robust, tactile structures that read as simultaneously luxurious and durable. Dots brings graphic playfulness in a woven construction that holds precise pattern across a flat surface. Kashba references the kilim tradition in its visual language: vivid colour and strong geometric pattern.

Licensed Brand Collections

Brink & Campman designs and manufactures the rug collections for some of the most respected names in international design. Marimekko, the Finnish design house known for its bold graphic patterns, produces its rug range in collaboration with Brink & Campman in hand-tufted New Zealand wool, with the Unikko and Tiiliskivi patterns among the most sought-after. Orla Kiely brings her characteristic stem and graphic motifs into wool pile constructions of the same quality. Morris & Co, Sanderson, Harlequin, Ted Baker, Wedgwood, Scion, Laura Ashley and Florence Broadhurst complete the licensed range. Each collection is developed in collaboration with the commissioning brand's own design studio and produced to Brink & Campman's standards. A Morris & Co or Sanderson rug in our collection is made with the same quality controls as the Brink & Campman own-brand range.

Materials and Sustainability

The primary material across all wool collections is New Zealand wool, sourced from suppliers certified under the Responsible Wool Standard, which verifies both animal welfare and responsible land management. The outdoor collections, including Festival, La Vida and Lace, are produced from recycled PET yarns. Brink & Campman holds SMETA certification for social and environmental compliance across its supply chain.

The full Brink & Campman collection is available to see, touch and compare in our rug shop and showroom in Willebroek, in the Antwerp region, easily accessible from Antwerp, Brussels, Mechelen and Sint-Niklaas. Free EU delivery on all orders, with a 30-day return policy on the standard collection.

Frequently asked questions

Where are Brink & Campman rugs made?

The design for every Brink & Campman collection originates in the in-house studio in Lichtenvoorde, the Netherlands. Production is split by technique: Axminster weaving takes place in the company's own factory in Lichtenvoorde. The hand-tufted collections, which include Decor, Element, Estella and all licensed brand ranges, are produced with long-standing partners in India. The outdoor flatweave collections use recycled PET yarn. All production partners are subject to Brink & Campman's quality controls and SMETA social and environmental certification.

What is the difference between hand-tufted and Axminster rugs?

Hand-tufting allows for expressive colour work and complex pattern in the pile surface. A tufting gun pushes yarn through a backing cloth, which is then finished with a secondary backing of cotton and latex. This allows for the kind of painterly, graphic design that Decor, Pop Art and the Element series demonstrate. Axminster weaving constructs the pattern in the loom itself, without a separate backing layer, using a technique that allows complex multi-colour work across the full width of the rug. Axminster construction is structurally denser and produces a surface that ages differently from a tufted rug.

Does Brink & Campman produce the Marimekko, Morris & Co and other licensed rugs themselves?

Yes. Brink & Campman designs and manufactures the rug collections for Marimekko, Morris & Co, Sanderson, Harlequin, Orla Kiely, Ted Baker, Wedgwood, Scion, Laura Ashley and Florence Broadhurst. The Lichtenvoorde design team collaborates with each brand's own studio. Production is then carried out to Brink & Campman's standards, in the same facilities and with the same quality controls as the own-brand range. The branded rugs in our collection are not licensed products from third-party manufacturers; they are made by Brink & Campman specifically for each commissioning brand.

Are Brink & Campman rugs suitable for underfloor heating?

Most collections are. The hand-tufted collections have a pile height of approximately 12 mm with a cotton and latex backing and are generally compatible with underfloor heating at moderate temperatures. The flatweave and handwoven constructions are compatible without restriction. The high-pile Rocks construction has a higher thermal resistance due to pile depth. Each product page states underfloor heating compatibility. If you are unsure, we can advise in the showroom in Willebroek or by email before purchase.

What makes the Estella quality different from the standard hand-tufted collections?

Estella uses viscose yarns alongside New Zealand wool in specific pattern areas. Viscose reflects light differently from wool, which allows certain design elements to catch the eye at different angles. The construction also combines loop pile and cut pile within the same surface, giving Estella a richer, more dimensional quality than a flat cut-pile construction. It is the most technically complex of the hand-tufted qualities and produces the most visually layered result.
