Senso Planes Natural is a warm sand beige rug, close to the colour of oatmeal, with a faint mélange in the yarn that keeps the surface alive. The pattern is drawn rather than coloured: a fine raised line, woven in relief, traces three rectangles of different sizes that overlap slightly off centre. Seen from above it reads like an architect's floor plan. Underfoot the weave is flat, firm and pleasantly dry to the touch.

This is a rug for light, calm rooms. Lay it on a pale poured floor or light oak, add a cream side table, sheer linen curtains and a single vase, and the room is finished without becoming busy. In low sunlight the raised lines throw a small shadow, which is when the design shows itself best. It suits a Scandinavian or minimalist living room and is equally at home at the foot of a bed.

Brink & Campman has Senso flatwoven by hand in India from 100% pure new wool. The rug is about 6 mm thin, so doors swing over it without trouble, and it is suitable for underfloor heating. It has no backing, so we advise a non slip underlay on smooth floors. A new wool rug sheds some loose fibres in the first weeks, which is normal and fades with regular vacuuming. Use a smooth nozzle without a rotating brush.
