Fine navy lines wander over a light grey field in Structures Fragment 2, a blue and grey designer rug that reads like an architect's plan seen from above. OEO Studio, the Copenhagen design studio, built the pattern from meandering lines and small blocks, and the bamboo silk in the drawing gives each line a slight sheen against the softer grey.

The clear, light base makes it an easy partner for a dining room with a pale wooden table and black chairs, or for a home office where an oak desk and a few framed prints set the tone. Navy cushions, blue glass or a striped linen throw echo the lines without repeating them. The largest size, 250 x 350 cm, comfortably carries a full sofa arrangement in an open living space.

Fragment 2 is tufted by hand in India in a blend of half New Zealand wool and half bamboo silk. The pile is low and even, and the rug can be used over underfloor heating. Handwork brings small differences in size and shade, which is exactly what gives it life. Bamboo silk prefers to stay dry, so dab spills immediately with an absorbent cloth and call in a professional cleaner when a thorough clean is needed. For everyday care, a vacuum cleaner without a rotating brush is enough.
