Structures Fragment 1 is a yellow and grey designer rug that feels like a warm lamp switched on in a dark room. Ochre shapes and winding lines move across a deep aubergine grey ground, drawn by the Copenhagen studio OEO Studio as if lifted from an old map. Where the ochre runs, the bamboo silk catches the light with a soft gleam, while the wool around it stays matt and velvety underfoot.

Its dark ground gives a room weight, so it shines in a study lined with books, a snug reading corner or a living room with deep walls in olive or plum. Pair it with a cognac leather armchair, brass lamps and walnut furniture, and let the ochre pick up the warmth of the wood. In a lighter interior it becomes the anchor that holds the furniture together.

The rug is handtufted in India from 50% New Zealand wool and 50% bamboo silk, with a low pile that lies close to the floor and is suitable for underfloor heating. Because every piece is tufted by hand, small variations in size and shade are part of its character. Keep it dry: soak up anything spilled at once with a clean cloth, and leave a deeper clean to a professional rug cleaner. Regular vacuuming without a rotating brush keeps the pile fresh.
