Grey with depth: that is Loom Natural Storm in short. Taupe and stone grey lead, with beige, blue grey, a few charcoal strands and a hint of caramel mixed through. Seen from a distance the rug reads as one warm grey, while up close it is a lively blend of thick felted wool strands in different heights, pebbled and pleasantly rugged to the touch.

Because it sits between warm and cool, this rug makes peace between materials. It links a grey sofa to an oak floor, and softens concrete, steel and black window frames in a modern interior. Choose it for the living room when you want a generous, tactile base under the coffee table, or for the bedroom, where a high pile makes the whole room feel warmer.

Underneath is a jute and cotton backing, and above it about 45 mm of high pile in 100% pure new wool. The felted yarn is woven in varying pile heights on an axminster loom by Brink & Campman in the Netherlands. This rug can go on underfloor heating. A new wool rug may shed a few loose fibres in the first weeks, which is normal and fades with regular vacuuming. Do so with a smooth nozzle, never a rotating brush, and fluff up the pile by hand occasionally.
