Marigold yellow and ochre give Loom Calendula its glow, tempered by strands of cream and soft grey. The colours are not drawn into a pattern but mixed strand by strand, in thick felted wool yarns of different lengths that stand up like a meadow in late summer. The result is a shaggy, speckled surface that feels deep and bouncy under bare feet.

A yellow rug asks for a little confidence, and repays it. On oak parquet the ochre notes pick up the honey of the wood, while white walls keep everything fresh. Pair it with one accent in the same family, a chair or a vase, and leave the rest quiet. It works in a living room with plenty of daylight and equally in a bedroom that could use some sunshine on grey days.

The rug is made of 100% pure new wool, woven in the Netherlands by Brink & Campman on an axminster loom. Felted yarn gives each strand its firm, rounded shape, and the pile stands about 45 mm high with deliberate differences in height. The backing is jute and cotton, and underfloor heating is no problem. For care, use a vacuum cleaner with a smooth nozzle and no rotating brush, and loosen the pile by hand now and then.
