Chocolate brown stripes run the full length of Decor Pilar Taupe, like the lines of a barcode. Between them, a grey taupe with a hint of lilac gradually gives way to pale cream as your eye travels across the rug. A narrower band through the middle reverses the two, so cream sits where taupe was and taupe where cream was. The effect is graphic yet warm, helped by a dense cut pile that feels smooth and full under the hand.

Brown is back in interiors, and this rug shows how to use it with a light touch. Place it under a dining table in oak or teak and the chocolate lines pick up the wood, while the taupe and cream keep the whole thing airy. It sits well on grey concrete, natural stone and pale parquet. A chair in cobalt blue or a vase in a strong colour looks striking against it. In the living room, combine it with a sofa in bouclé or a warm grey wool.

The rug is made of 100% pure new wool, a fibre that is naturally resilient and hides everyday soiling well. Each piece is hand tufted in India, finished with a cut pile of 17 mm and backed with cotton and latex. You can lay it over underfloor heating without concern, and Brink & Campman also produces it to measure on request. For daily care, vacuum with a smooth nozzle and switch off any rotating brush. Blot a spill straight away with a dry cloth and never rub.
