Green and blue should never be seen, the old saying goes. Decor Pilar Moss proves otherwise. Deep moss green is paired with slim navy blue lines and a cool light grey, all running lengthwise in stripes that grow wider and narrower across the rug. Where the three horizontal sections meet, green turns to grey and grey to green, which gives the pattern a lively, slightly offbeat rhythm. Up close, the cut wool pile looks rich and matt, with crisp edges between the colours.

Moss green is one of the easiest strong colours to live with, because it behaves like a plant in the room. On honey coloured parquet it looks rich and grounded, and it loves the company of dark shelving, cognac leather and terracotta ceramics. A single chair in rust or orange is all the accent you need. Use it to anchor a seating area in the living room, or lay it in a study or bedroom where you want depth without heaviness. Modern in line, with a nod to vintage design.

Underneath the colour there is solid craft. The yarn is 100% pure new wool, tufted by hand in India and cut to a pile height of 17 mm, on a backing of cotton and latex. Wool of this kind springs back well after furniture and footsteps. The rug may be used on underfloor heating, and other dimensions can be made to measure on request. A little shedding in the early weeks is perfectly normal. Vacuum regularly without a rotating brush, and dab spills immediately with a clean dry cloth.
