Some rugs cool a room down. This one warms it up. The Tapison Home Torino 063.0990.7299 is all ochre, caramel and honey, with ivory lines sweeping across it like the stripes of a sunlit hide or the rings of a freshly sawn trunk.

Look closely at the darker bands and you will find gold, toffee and a few threads of soft grey woven together, which is why the colour looks sun-faded and never flat. The ivory keeps everything light, so the rug feels warm without being heavy. Underfoot you get a short, dense pile with a silky touch.

Where does it belong? On a pale wooden floor with a cream bouclé sofa and rattan, for a relaxed, sun-drenched look. Next to dark brown leather and black metal, where it softens the hard edges. Or in a study that simply needs some warmth. Terracotta, olive green and off-white are its best companions.

It is made for everyday life: machine woven in Belgium from colourfast polyester, and fine on underfloor heating. A weekly run with the vacuum cleaner is usually all it needs. If something spills, dab it up quickly with a damp cloth and resist the urge to rub. Giving the rug a half turn every few months keeps the wear even.

Ochre is a colour you have to see for yourself. That is possible at our rug shop and showroom in Willebroek, in the Antwerp region, easily accessible from Antwerp, Brussels, Mechelen and Sint-Niklaas. Ordering from home? We deliver free throughout Europe and you can return within 30 days.
