Lilac, blush pink and a whisper of sage drift over a pale greige ground in Cloud 9 Afternoon, a pastel wool rug that looks like the sky late in the day. The clouds are shaped in texture as well as colour: smooth flat woven areas sit beside tufted areas with pile, so your hand and your feet follow their outlines.

Its gentle palette suits a bedroom with plaster walls in warm white, a children's room that is allowed to grow up with its owner, or a living room where pale wood and soft pink ceramics already set the mood. Combine it with a linen sofa in oatmeal, a lilac cushion or two and brushed brass, and the room gains warmth without turning sweet. The 140 x 200 cm size looks lovely beside a bed or in a reading corner.

FACNE Design Studio created the composition for Massimo Copenhagen, and the rug is handwoven and hand tufted in India from 100% New Zealand wool. Underfloor heating poses no problem. Because each rug is made by hand, expect minor differences in size and colour from one rug to another. Vacuum regularly without a rotating brush, which protects the raised cloud areas, and allow for a little shedding during the first weeks, as is normal with new wool.
