Run your hand across Cloud 9 Cloudy, a grey wool rug with clouds in stone and silver tones, and you can feel the weather in it. Some areas are woven flat, others tufted with a soft pile that rises just above the surface. On an overcast day the shades melt together; in low evening sun the raised parts catch the light and cast tiny shadows.

This is the version for a calm study, a minimal living room or a bedroom in muted tones. It sits naturally on a concrete floor or dark oak boards and pairs well with charcoal linen, matt black lamps and a leather lounge chair. In 200 x 300 cm it anchors a full seating group, while 140 x 200 cm suits a desk area or the space at the foot of a bed.

The design is by FACNE Design Studio for Massimo Copenhagen. In India the rug is partly woven and partly tufted, entirely by hand and in 100% New Zealand wool, and it can lie on underfloor heating. A handmade rug always shows small deviations in measurements and shade, and they are part of its story. Keep it fresh by vacuuming with the brush switched off; fluff in the early weeks is simply new wool settling.
