Cord Black White pairs a chunky oatmeal wool weave with fine black lines that run the full length of the rug, like the stitching on a well made coat. Designed with the Swedish studio Massproductions, it has a tactile, almost basket like surface you notice the moment you step on it, finished with loose wool fringes at both short ends.
The graphic stripes give a calm room a quiet rhythm. Lay it in a white or concrete loft with a pale lounge chair and oak, or let the 75 x 240 cm runner lead the way through a hallway or along a kitchen island. 200 x 300 cm suits a three seater with two armchairs, 140 x 200 cm works beside a bed.
Woven by hand in Bhadohi, India, from 100% wool, about 15 mm high, and suitable for underfloor heating. Handwork means small variations in size and tone. New wool sheds a little at first, which fades over time. Vacuum without a brush and treat stains with lukewarm water and a little soap, then absorb the moisture with a dry microfibre cloth. For a deep clean, choose professional flat washing.
