Collage is based on a work by the American artist Heather Chontos, made from torn film posters and pages from old French magazines. It marked the start of a new direction in her work, and you can feel it in the rug: bold shapes in tomato red, plum and blush float on a warm cream ground, held together by fine, hand drawn lines in navy and aubergine.

This is a rug that hangs on the floor like a painting. It brings life to a calm interior with white walls, warm wood and a few well chosen pieces, and looks just as good beneath a mid century armchair as in a bedroom with linen and terracotta. 250 x 350 cm lets the composition breathe in a living room, 200 x 300 cm suits a sofa with two armchairs.

Hand knotted in Bhadohi, India, from 100% New Zealand wool, with a generous pile of about 25 mm, and suitable for underfloor heating. Advanced dyeing techniques recreate the depth and colour variation of the original paintings. Handwork means small variations in size and tone. New wool sheds a little at first, which fades over time. Vacuum without a brush and treat stains with lukewarm water and a little soap, then absorb the moisture with a dry microfibre cloth. For a deep clean, choose professional flat washing.
