Petal Olive Plum is a rug that leaves the rectangle behind altogether. Three oversized blooms in deep plum and cream, with dark brown hearts, sit on a ground of olive and moss, and the whole rug follows their outline, like a bouquet laid on the floor. It is one of two sculptural flower rugs in the Layered x Collina Strada collection.

A shape like this turns a floor into a stage. Lay it in front of a sofa, beside a bed or in a dressing room, and keep the furniture around it simple so the flowers can breathe. The rug comes in the same sizes as the rest of the collection, measured at its widest and longest points, from 180 x 270 cm to 300 x 400 cm.

Hand tufted in Bhadohi, India, from 100% wool. The pile varies between 12 and 17 mm and the edges are carved by hand, so every rug has the lively, slightly imperfect line of a fashion sketch. Suitable for underfloor heating. Handwork means small variations in size and tone. New wool sheds a little at first, which fades over time. Vacuum without a brush and treat stains with lukewarm water and a little soap, then absorb the moisture with a dry microfibre cloth. For a deep clean, choose professional flat washing.
