A warm camel brown, somewhere between caramel and light hazelnut: that is the colour of Senso Level Fur Brown. Seen up close the wool is a mélange, with sand coloured and deeper brown fibres twisted together, which gives the plain surface its depth. Two rectangles are drawn on it in a slender raised line, one framing the rug and one lying lower inside, its base stepping just outside the frame. Under a lamp in the evening that line glows a shade lighter than the ground.

Use it to anchor a seating area in the living room. It suits a sofa in ecru bouclé or natural linen, a walnut coffee table, cognac leather and a few ceramics in earth tones. On a pale floor, such as light oak, limewashed boards or a cream poured floor, the brown becomes the warm centre of the room. On dark wood it blends in more quietly. This is quiet luxury in the proper sense: nothing shouts, yet everything feels considered.

Senso Level is a hand woven flatweave from India in 100% pure new wool, only about 6 mm thick. That makes it a practical choice under a dining table too, since chairs slide over it easily. The rug comes without backing, so place a non slip underlay beneath it on smooth floors. It can be laid over underfloor heating. For care, vacuum regularly with a smooth nozzle and dab any spill straight away with a clean, dry cloth, never rubbing.
