Decor Miller Autumn looks like an abstract painting that has slipped off the wall and onto the floor. The outline is a soft, egg like oval, and inside it large rounded fields of colour lean against each other: a warm sand beige ground, a wide panel of blush pink, a paler cream beige curve, olive green and a quiet greige. One small oval in near black gives the whole composition its anchor. The dense cut pile feels full and velvety under bare feet.

A rug without corners changes a room more than you might expect. Lay it at an angle in front of the sofa, or let it float freely on a herringbone oak floor, and straight lines of walls and furniture suddenly feel less strict. The powdery tones are lovely with pale wood, travertine, cream bouclé and a touch of brass or smoked glass. In a bedroom it softens the space beside the bed, and under a round dining table the curves repeat each other nicely.

This rug is hand tufted in India from 100% pure new wool, with a cut pile of 17 mm and a backing of cotton and latex. Because the shape is organic, the stated size is measured at the widest and longest point. It is suitable for underfloor heating and can be made to measure on request. New wool sheds a little loose fibre in the first weeks, which is normal and fades with regular vacuuming. Use a smooth nozzle without a rotating brush.
