Sumace Black is a black jute rug with fringes and a chunky, irregular texture that you can feel through your socks. The deep black gives the natural fibre a graphic, almost sculptural look, and the knots create a lively relief that catches the light. Fringes finish both short ends.
Black natural fibre is a confident choice. Place it under a white dining table with pale wooden chairs, or set it beneath a light linen sofa so the furniture seems to float. It also grounds a modern country kitchen or an entrance with whitewashed walls and wicker baskets. A few touches of terracotta or brass add warmth around it.
Sumace is knotted by hand in India from 100% hemp/jute. It is suitable for underfloor heating. The knotted size excludes the fringes. Slight variations in size and shade are a natural consequence of handwork. Vacuum without a brush and protect the fibre from moisture; soak up any spill straight away and call in a professional for a thorough clean.
