For a six-person table of 180 by 90 cm or larger, a 240 by 340 cm rug is the correct format: standard dining requires 50 to 75 cm of clearance per chair on all sides, which a 200 by 300 cm rug cannot deliver at that table size. When in doubt, always size up for dining.

A light-toned rug at 200 by 300 cm makes the floor feel larger and the room more open; a darker or more saturated colour grounds the space and makes the seating area feel more deliberate.
