Look at Kilim Amber 751 from across the room and you see rows. Step closer and every shape in those rows turns out to be its own small painting.

A warm, rust orange ground carries column after column of honeycomb shaped medallions, each one filled with a different combination of pattern and colour, cobalt blue on one, mustard and turquoise on the next, deep purple with olive green further along. A narrower border of small diamonds runs the perimeter in the same fiery orange, holding the whole composition together without competing with it. Nothing repeats exactly, which is precisely what gives a kilim like this its quiet, handmade authority.

That variation only happens because someone wove it that way on purpose. Kilim Amber 751 is 100% wool, hand-woven in Afghanistan with no pile and no backing, just a flat, durable weave where every colour change marks a decision made at the loom rather than a pattern repeated by machine. The reverse looks almost as good as the front, proof that the colour was never just applied on top.

At 249 by 177 centimetres it works as a genuine centrepiece rather than an accent, the kind of rug a room gets built around rather than added to. It holds particularly well against simple, solid furniture, where all that warmth and detail has the space to do the talking.

Looking after it is straightforward. Shake it out occasionally, vacuum gently without the beater bar, and let it air outside from time to time. Treat any spills quickly and always let it dry flat afterwards.
