Cristian and I, Siemen, have been helping people find the perfect rug for years. And honestly? This season is going to be beautiful.
What we're seeing everywhere this spring
The trends for spring 2026 actually align perfectly with what we've always believed in. Quality over quantity. Materials you can feel. Colors you won't tire of. It feels a bit like coming home.
Natural materials like wool, jute and cotton are taking center stage again. People want to know where their rug comes from, how it's made. We love having that conversation, because that's where our heart is. Every rug in our collection has a story, and we're happy to tell it.
In terms of colors, we're mainly seeing soft earth tones. Think warm beige, terracotta, subtle green and powder pink. Colors that bring calm but aren't boring. Cristian always says: a good rug should complete your interior, not dominate it. And these shades do exactly that.
Texture makes the difference
What really stands out to us this season is the demand for texture. People want rugs that you don't just see, but also feel. High-pile carpets, interesting weave patterns, playful structures. It immediately gives a room more character.
In our showroom in Willebroek, we always let customers walk barefoot over the rugs. Might sound strange, but that's when you really feel the difference between a machine-made and handmade rug. You can't get that experience online, and that's why we think it's so important for people to visit.
Dare to go for color
Besides the soft earth tones, we're also seeing a beautiful movement towards more color. Not loud, but bold. Think deep sapphire blue, rich emerald green tones, warm terracotta and even subtle pink accents. People are daring more again, and we think that's fantastic.
Cristian notices it too: customers come in asking if a colored rug isn't too much. But when they see it in their space, combined with their furniture, the puzzle pieces click. A rug in a beautiful color can elevate your entire interior.
The nice thing is that these colors also combine very well with neutral tones. You don't have to redo your entire interior. A rug in a nice color gives just that bit of extra character your space is waiting for.
Outdoor rugs are becoming increasingly popular
Something we've been seeing more and more in recent years, and certainly this spring again, is the demand for outdoor rugs. People want to make their terrace, balcony or garden just as cozy as their living room. And we completely agree.
Today's outdoor rugs are really not comparable to what you used to have. They're weather-resistant, easy to clean and simply look beautiful. Perfect under your garden set, on your balcony or even in a conservatory.
