Perletta is a Dutch brand that has been producing handcrafted rugs in Morocco for over thirty years. Every piece is made to order. There are no stock sizes, no standard formats, no off-the-shelf pieces. When you order a Perletta rug, the weavers in Morocco produce it to your precise dimensions, in the colour you choose, in the construction you select. The result is a rug that fits your space exactly, because it was never made for any other space.

The core material is 100% New Zealand wool: long-staple, lanolin-rich and densely crimped. It is the most resilient of wools for rug production, the one that springs back under furniture, resists staining without surface treatment and holds colour at the fibre level rather than on the surface. The dyeing process is precise enough to produce consistent results across the forty-plus colours in the Perletta range, from natural undyed tones through to deep blues, earthy terracottas and olive greens.

Three Construction Methods, Three Surface Characters

Perletta produces rugs in three construction methods: handwoven, handknotted and handtufted. Each produces a fundamentally different surface character, pile height, relationship with light and feel underfoot. The handwoven and handknotted constructions are produced in Morocco from New Zealand wool. The handtufted constructions combine New Zealand wool with eucalyptus fibre, which adds softness and a subtle lustre to the surface.

The Handwoven Collections

Bellamy is a loop weave with a soft, warm, full feel: the most versatile construction in the collection and the entry point, starting from €296. It covers the widest colour range and suits living rooms, bedrooms and home offices equally. Salsa is a medium pile that is structured and robust, with a surface that holds its shape under furniture and foot traffic: a strong choice for dining areas and family rooms. Limone and Limone Mix have a compact, smooth, finely woven surface with a Scandinavian character, available in 36 colours; Limone Mix allows two colours to be combined for a custom tonal blend. Finesse is woven using two thinner yarns simultaneously, creating a subtle, wobbly pattern that appears simple but is technically precise: elegant, warm and quietly distinctive. Polar is a low, tight weave in over forty colours for minimal, architectural interiors where the rug should recede rather than command attention. Spot adds a tonal variation to the Salsa base. Neon uses the Salsa weave with a black thread woven through the wool, adding a graphic detail that catches the light. Savannah combines wool with sisal threads and a natural-coloured warp, producing a surface that can be used on both sides.

The Textural Collections

Gravel, Boulder, Knot and Pebbles are the most assertive surfaces in the collection. Gravel has a chunky, granular texture that reads particularly well beside stone, concrete or untreated timber. Boulder uses a rounded, pebble-like weave in New Zealand wool with optional linen that produces a soft volume with an organic character. Knot has an irregular, hand-tied relief that changes entirely depending on the angle and quality of the light: a surface that rewards being seen from multiple positions. These constructions start from €1,800 for standard sizes and are investment pieces in both price and presence.

The Handtufted Collections

The handtufted range, produced in New Zealand wool and eucalyptus, includes Aspen and Aspen Mix. The eucalyptus fibre introduces a softness and lustre that differs from the pure wool handwoven constructions. Aspen Mix allows two colours to be combined for a custom tonal blend with a depth that plain weave cannot achieve.

Custom Size, Colour and Shape

The made-to-measure capability applies to all constructions. Width up to 400 cm. Length without restriction. Round, oval, irregular and custom-shaped formats available on request. If your space has an unusual dimension, a structural feature or a floor plan that no standard rug addresses, Perletta produces the solution. Lead time is approximately four to six weeks from confirmed order. A sample service is available: physical samples can be ordered to compare colour and texture under your own light conditions before committing to a made-to-measure piece.

Underfloor Heating and Care

All Perletta rugs are suitable for underfloor heating. For care: lightly mist the rug with water quarterly to keep the wool fibres in condition. For spills, blot immediately with a damp cloth, then apply a small amount of sparkling water and blot again. Do not use household detergents. Do not dry clean. Vacuum regularly using suction only, without a rotating beater bar. A rug underlay is recommended for all Perletta constructions: it prevents movement, protects the floor and extends the life of the weave.

We display the full Perletta collection in our rug shop and showroom in Willebroek, in the Antwerp region, easily accessible from Antwerp, Brussels, Mechelen and Sint-Niklaas. Comparing constructions in person and assessing colour accuracy under your own light conditions are the two things that make the made-to-measure decision significantly more confident. Free EU delivery on all orders, with a 30-day return policy on standard pieces.
