It can be difficult to choose, there are so many beautiful carpets on the market. Is your living room floor still empty and could it use some cosiness and warmth? We'd like to help you on your way. With our 3 tips and a few rules of thumb, you can turn your living room into a dream spot in no time. Do you have a brown, grey or green couch at home or are you a fan of the colour purple? Then be sure to read on!
Which rug looks good in your home is of course very personal. Our rules of thumb will get you started, no matter what colour rug you have. First of all, take the floor into account: is the undertone warm or cool? If you make a colour scheme beforehand that you coordinate with the colour of the wall and the accessories in the living room, you will know whether the new rug fits in well and the choice will be easier. Finally, you can choose an accent colour from your living room, on which you select the colour of the rug.
Do you have a stylish brown sofa at home made of for example (PU) leather or a nice velvet fabric? This has a warm undertone and combines perfectly with a rug in warm colours. Think of warm pink, terracotta or off-white. In terms of designs you can choose a more outspoken style like a Persian rug or you can choose a single colour to create a more peaceful atmosphere in your home. Would you like to create unity? Repeat a colour from the rug in the rest of your living room, for example in the accessories or the wall colour. Do you want to show a bit more boldness? Play with different materials, for example jute or go for a different shape than rectangular or round.
A beautiful and timeless colour for a sofa is definitely green. A green sofa is often an eye-catcher in itself, so it is best to make sure the rug has a neutral shade. What about (off-)white combined with black, grey or dark green? You can go different ways with the pattern, but with a vintage rug you will really show off your sofa. If you add an accent colour, for example yellow ochre or pink, you create extra warmth.
A grey sofa is like a white canvas: when it comes to decorating, you can do anything. Colours, materials and accessories, everything you like and to make it personal. Because your grey sofa is so neutral, you can also go all out when it comes to the rug. Do you like tranquillity and want to keep the whole thing quiet? Then choose a wool rug in a solid colour and go for more outspoken accessories. A black and white rug is also a good choice. Are you in favour of making your rug a real eye-catcher? Then choose a distinctive design or let a colour accent come back. Do you dare to go for dark blue or the Pantone colour of 2022?
Very Peri stands for creativity and optimism. So this colour is very welcome in every interior. The colour institute Pantone determined the new trend colour of 2022 at the end of last year. You have undoubtedly already come across this colour while shopping: Very Peti, a purple shade with its own number: 17-3938. Now you may think, purple? That colour was also the trend colour of the year a while ago, wasn't it! That's right! In 2014 and 2018, purple shades were also very popular, but Very Peri is a bit bluer, towards violet. The Colour Institute describes the colour as a symbol of the zeitgeist and the transition people are going through. Courageous, imaginative and creative. The colour stands for self-confidence and curiosity. You can do a lot of things with accessories; you can find this colour in every home furnishing shop nowadays. It can be perfectly combined with our shaggy rugs or take a look at the Ted Baker collection, for example in the rug Jardin Pink. A great statement that will make many an interior designer's heart beat faster.
