One of the most frequently asked questions at our shop and online: which colours fit nicely in my interior and how do I combine them? We find this difficult, especially in the living room. Of course you can do it by feeling, but unfortunately not everyone is born with a fine sense of colour. So this is where we really want to help you! Read along?
So deciding on the right colour can be quite tricky. You want to take many things into account and create an atmosphere that suits you and your home. To make this choice a little easier, you can first think about whether you prefer warm or cold colours. When choosing, you can think about the function of the room. For example, you could make an 'active room' such as the hallway or kitchen a little cooler, and the bedroom and living room a little warmer, the place where you like to unwind.
A very handy way that can help you choose the right colours is by creating a colour palette. This is the main foundation of your interior and is going to help you immensely when choosing colours!
As we already mentioned, there are some people who can very easily choose colours for their rooms and interiors from their feelings. However, this is not for everyone, but a short step-by-step plan will get you a long way. If you want to combine colours with each other, it can be very tricky, especially when it comes to wall paint in combination with (colourful) furniture and a nice matching rug. Besides, one colour blue is not the other and to make it even easier for you... there are even many types of white.
Step 1: Choose 1 or 2 basic colours or make a mood board that reflects the colours you like. For the most part, let the basic colours recur in your home. Neutral colours are not dominant and can form a very nice base.
Step 2: Complete the colour palette by finding 3 to 5 colours to go with your basic palette. Check Pinterest, Instagram or browse (home) magazines to find out which colours appeal to you. DIY stores also offer many colour samples that you can probably take home (for free).
Step 3: Bring the colours together and see if it suits you and each other.
You can then continue these colours in your interiors and accessories. We offer a wide range of rugs and carpets, so there is always a colour that matches your palette. Like a match made in heaven! Have fun with this fun puzzle and if you can't figure it out, we are always ready to help. So don't hesitate to contact us or drop by our showroom!
