In the sitting area, under the table or have you ever thought of hanging a nice rug on the wall? A rug gives your home atmosphere in an instant. But what do you look for when buying a nice rug?

How big should an area rug be?

Think carefully about the size of the rug beforehand. If you want to create a nice and calm whole, it is best if you put all the front legs of the furniture on the rug. That way your seating area forms a unity in the room and nobody trips over the rug (which is of course nice!).

Where can I apply rugs?

Besides embellishing your seating area with a nice rug, you can go in so many other directions. In the hallway, for instance, a rug makes for a nice entrance. And a rug at the foot of your bed creates a nice, comfortable atmosphere (think of a hotel suite, you often find one there too!). Are you really in love with your rug? Then hang it on the wall! An awesome statement, your rug becomes a work of art.

A rug under the dining table, can it be done?

Sure you can! A rug in your dining area is totally contemporary. So do it! Make sure all the legs of the dining chairs fit on the rug, even when they are not pushed in. That's the most peaceful look. Afraid of getting dirty? Many of our rugs are very easy to clean, check out our outdoor collection for example. You can also use them indoors!

High-pile, low-pile, coarse or just fine?

The structure of an area rug adds character. A high-pile or coarsely woven rug has a casual look due to its tousled look, which can create a nice contrast in a modern interior. Low-pile rugs create a somewhat neater and sturdier look.

Do I choose a rug while I have underfloor heating at home?

Underfloor heating and rugs go very well together. Especially if there is plenty of free space around the rug. Naturally, the heat cannot spread as well where the rug is, but you could limit this disadvantage by using an underlay.

Does an area rug suit me?

Still in doubt? Then put down some old newspapers to see the effect of a rug in your space. Or use our rug visualiser! This will give you a very good idea of what it will look like. Also useful to determine the size of your future rug.
